The Kinderkook Café, meaning ‘café in which children cook’ is a café with a difference. All the bartending, serving and cooking here is done by youngsters, the idea being that they learn by participation.

Children are even shown how to prepare and deliver a dinner party. They are taught about varying cultural cuisines, vegetarian options and finish with dessert. Holiday lunch classes can be booked, where children prepare and eat lunch together with invited guests.

The Café is situated in the heart of Amsterdam and has been open for an impressive 23 years. It is staffed by experienced volunteers, and alcohol and smoking is of course, not allowed. Send your kids here in the morning, while you explore Amsterdam and come back just in time to dig in to their freshly prepared grub.
