A carnivore’s paradise, Colombia

If you love crazy tatty décor pieced together from recycled junk by a wildly artistic imagination, this is a great restaurant to visit. Tucked away in Chía, 40 minutes drive from Bogotá, Colombia. The place is called ‘Andrés Carne de Res’ and as the name suggests, the specialty is meat, and in decadent portions, so make sure you starve yourself before arriving.

Its extraordinary ornamentation is an interminable collection of recycled objects from all over the country. No detail is overlooked, from matchboxes decorated with caricatures of staff to wind-up scrolling menus made from former cash boxes. Like with all Colombians the staff is wonderful, beginning with its big bubbly owner. You’re guaranteed a good time, a great meal and endlessly amusing decoration.
