Hang Nga Guesthouse, Vietnam
A Dr Seuss fantasy wrapped up in a Tim Burton nightmare is a fairly accurate way of describing Hang Nga Guesthouse.
The famous Dalat attraction, often called The Crazy House, is a bizarre network of caves, cubbyholes and hidden stairwells, with precarious bridges leading from one concrete tree house to another. The giant vines and huge spider’s web in the garden make it hard to believe that eccentric architect Hang Nga is the daughter of former president Truong Chinh.
Most tourists leave before dark, but you can rent a room. This means you could be lucky enough to wake up to an oversized kangaroo with glowing red eyes at the foot of your bed. If not, then the room with the Great Hornbill or artificial anthill could be yours.
