Cinema Paradiso, New Zealand

When the wind and torrential rain of a New Zealand winter starts to set in, there can be nothing more instantly warming to both body and mind than a trip to the Cinema Paradiso.

This small classic movie theatre, located in Wanaka, has chosen to discard the traditional rows of cinema seats in favour of large sunken old sofas and an old Morris Minor. Movie posters are used as wallpaper, even smothering the projection booth and ceilings. An entirely unique experience, this quirky little place offers cinematic viewing as if from the comfort of your own sofa.

Quirky Warning: try to resist the urge for popcorn and save room for the home made cookies and ice cream that will be on sale during the interval.
