Big Thing Trail, Australia

The great southern land is full of big things to see: The big rock (Ayers), big coathanger (Sydney Harbour Bridge) and big reef (Great Barrier). But in the real Australia there’s The Big Thing Trail.

It is well known that Aussies crave to commemorate anything with a big statue – be that a prawn, blowfly or beer. And so, if you want to see a bit of quirky Australia, hire a car in Sydney and start driving north.

First you’ll hit the Big Prawn and Big Banana, in far north NSW. Keep it up, and soon you’ll be posing for pics beside the Big Tinnie (can of beer in local lingo) and Big Lawnmower, finishing up at the Big Pineapple in Queensland.

But don’t fret – there’s plenty more! Just keep driving…
