Propeller Island City Lodge, Berlin

This bonkers Berlin hotel created by artist Lars Stroschen is reverently described in the blurb as a ‘vision machine’. That’s one way of looking at it, but others would call it plain loopy.

Each of the 30 rooms has a theme and while some are understandable, attractive even - the chilled out sky room for example - some cater for far more, er, specialist tastes.

Take your pick from a gothic fantasy where guests sleep in coffins, a padded cell or a vomit-inducing room clothed in irregular mirrors. Other room choices include one with a psychedelic castle, a flying bed, a symbol room, a ’space cube’ and a concrete dorm wrapped in tape.

The Propeller Island City Lodge is found in west Berlin at Albrecht Achilles Straße 58.
