No matter that January is mid-winter in NYC; this is the month that a hardy bunch of city dwellers go trouserless to ride the draughty subway trains.
Running since 2002, the annual No Pants Subway Ride is organised by NY-based group Improv Everywhere. This year’s event will take place at 3pm on Sunday, January 10.
Another more widespread and longer-running event is No Pants Day, which takes place at a much milder time of the year (the first Friday of May). It seems to have started in the mid-eighties, but has flourished over the last ten years.
So now you have two opportunities to show off your fancy underwear in public every year.
