If you find yourself in Key West on December 31st be sure to take an umbrella, because it’s gonna start raining men.

Quite literally actually, in the form of Sushi (aka Gary Marion) the drag queen, who gets dropped in a giant red stiletto each year. Mimicking New York’s Times Square ball drop, Florida created its own memorable way of bringing in the New Year 14 years ago.

The action takes place on the island city’s Duval Street, with the extravagant frivolities even being filmed for CNN since 2002.

So if you fancy a warm welcome to the New Year – get yourself to Key West. Ye’ll have a gay auld time.
