Fancy a pint, whilst floating down the river in 30º heat and listening to some chilled beats? Then tiny Vang Vieng in Laos is just the place for you.
Three hours from the Lao capital of Vientiane lies a sleepy village called Vang Vieng – sleepy that is except for the influx of backpackers that come here to hire an old tube, throw their cash into a plastic bag and party on the riverbank.
Simply hop a tuk tuk down to the river, grab a tube and soon you’ll be thrown a rope to pull into the nearest bar, which will undoubtedly be overflowing with backpackers, bikinis, cocktails and rope swings.
Just don’t spend all your time in the first bar – there are about 50 more to choose from downriver!
