There’s quirky, there’s extreme and then there’s just plain gross. And this experience definitely falls in the latter category. Pay a visit to the Downtown Hotel in Dawson City, and you’ll be invited to join the famous Sourtoe Cocktail Club.
It’s a dubious honour, however. This is because in order to join the 12,000-strong club, you must drink a shot containing a genuine, shrivelled human toe – mummified and then stored in a tub of salt. And if that’s not enough, the dried-up digit must touch your lips.
The hotel claims to be on its eighth toe after several were swallowed with the drink.
