Secret Cinema, London

Call me conventional, but when I go to the cinema, I like to know what film I’m going to see. However, Secret Cinema have made not knowing what film is showing – or where or when! – really exciting.

Each month, Secret Cinema puts on a film in a wacky location around London. Buy a ticket and you’ll have to wait until the last minute for an email telling you to go to a particular tube station at a particular time in a particular style of fancy dress.

From there, clues lead you to the venue which could be anything from a rooftop to a derelict building. A themed set, costumed actors, live music and fun theatrics build up the atmosphere and hint at the film to be shown.

Don’t worry though. Popcorn is always available.
