Instant noodle museum, Japan

A museum dedicated to pot noodles might sound like a joke, but the story behind the instant noodle is a surprisingly worthy and fascinating one.

The Instant Ramen Museum in Osaka tells the story of Momofuku Ando, the inventor of the instant noodle. He spent night after night in his shed in the 1950s experimenting with freshly cooked noodles to find a way to get the water out and put flavour in at the same time.

The fun, funky, interactive exhibits show how he eventually cracked it and the evolution of his company and its products.

The highlight of the museum is the Noodle Factory where you can create and design your own pot noodle from scratch; it is then shrink-wrapped for you to take home and enjoy.
