Phranakorn Nornlen, Thailand

Escape the frenetic bustle of Bangkok at this quirky hotel, an oasis of calm in the midst of one of the world’s most chaotic cities.

This little gem, tucked down an unassuming alleyway, is full of lovingly crafted details – from the home-made mix CDs provided in the bedrooms, to the individual, hand-drawn paintings that adorn almost every wall. An entire month was spent painting the reception area alone, which boasts a detailed mural of the streets and sights of the local area.

Phranakorn Nornlen offers Bangkok’s most genuine luxuries: peace and quiet. But through refusing to provide a laundry service or restaurant, they expose their guests to some of the real Bangkok, and hope to share the tourist Baht around.
