Maison MK, Marrakech

If you’re going to stay anywhere in Marrakech it’s got to be Maison MK. Just off the main medina, it’s a wonderfully quirky little haven. Jamie Oliver certainly thought so when he cooked on their roof (he called it the “best roof top in the city”), which has fabulous city and mountain views.

The whole riad has lovely modern Moroccan design, with unusual creative flourishes. It’s obvious that someone has taken great care and pride in making this riad different. The details are everything, right down to the very last petal on your bed.

One piece of advice: do the cooking course. The chef takes you to the market for raw ingredients and brings them back to make typical dishes and bake in the communal bread oven.
