Fire and Ice! Hotel, Cape Town

You don’t tend to expect humour and individuality in a chain hotel. But they are there in abundance in Cape Town’s Fire and Ice! Hotel, the flagship property in the Protea Hotels chain.

Recently revamped for a style-conscious clientele, it is still an entertaining place to stay. There are shark cage lifts, and huge naked photos on the walls, with their modesty covered by towels. Try to peek under the towel and an alarm goes off in the lobby!

On a more sensible note, the hotel also has a gym, a pool and a famously delicious milkshake menu.

The hotel is located in New Church and Victoria Street.
