Fawlty Towers, China

Fawlty Towers China

Just when you thought you’d never hear the screech of ‘Basil!’ again, China hits you with its own take on Fawlty Towers Hotel.

Set in the Yangshuo district, Southeast China, this family-run hostel has its very own Basil, Sybil, Polly and of course bellboy, Manuel – though not from Barcelona.

Reprising everything we love about the quintessentially English television show, it offers budget accommodation with service reassuringly better than you’d expect from its namesake.

A complete replica of the 70s show, this hotel’s kitsch atmosphere and satirical ambiance definitely makes for a comical stay, made funnier by the fact most of the staff seem unaware of its parallel fictional existence.
